The new Motorola Edge 30 Ultra phone seems the best phone to date in 2024 and so far better than the new iPhone 14.
The Motorola Edge 30 Ultra was launched on September 8 alongside the midrange Edge 30 Fusion and the low-cost Edge 30 Neo, just a day after the new iPhone was launched. I didn’t realize the phone had been released until it appeared on my desk.
The iPhone is one of the most popular mobile products every year, so it makes sense to focus on these media, but in a more sensible world, people would stick with the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra. It has top-of-the-line specs and is priced lower than Apple’s phones. And as a result of testing, I think it’s a device you should look at right now.
Motorola Edge 30 Ultra specifications
If the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra were a character created with video game character creators, the engineers would have pushed all the sliders up. This phone has top-of-the-line specs in every department, surprisingly.
One example that can be quickly brought to market is a camera. It has a 200MP primary camera. This is the highest-megapixel cell phone camera I have ever seen.
However, Motorola was not bound by other cameras. It has a 60MP selfie snapper, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP telephoto camera.
Phone manufacturers have spent years ignoring Zoom cameras, and the presence of Zoom cameras here is pleasantly surprising.
The processor here is the powerful Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1, working with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. This phone must be a gaming powerhouse based on other phones tested with the same specs. You can have a smooth experience playing games like PUBG and Apex Legends Mobile on this phone.
This also helps in this regard, as this display is a 6.67-inch Full HD+ display with a smooth 144Hz refresh rate. Motorola is one of the few non-gaming phone brands that regularly use high refresh rates on their phones, and I agree with all of them.
Another impressive spec is the charging speed. The 4610mAh battery is powered via super-fast 125W wired or 50W wireless charging.
Another thing I like – although I understand that opinions may be divided – is the design. This phone has a curved display that makes it comfortable to hold and use, but some may not be very keen on this feature.
The price is much better than the iPhone 14
These high-end phones often sell for quite a bit, but I was surprised to see the price of the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra.
In the UK, this phone costs £750, roughly $870 or AU$1,280. We currently only know of UK pricing and availability, but hopefully, it will also launch in the US. This is a country and Australia that lacks serious competition beyond Apple and Samsung.
For the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra
For the iPhone 14
Conclusion
The Edge 30 Ultra is cheaper than I thought, and I think the lower price will steal a lot of attention from Apple’s new iPhones. Edge 30 Ultra phone is also better than the basic level iPhone 14 in critical areas, especially zoom photography, charging speed, and, in my opinion, design.
