The Motorola Moto G52 is the company’s latest mid-range smartphone, priced at $263/€249. It is the successor to the Motorola Moto G51 smartphone.
With a premium design, very smooth 90Hz pOLED display, lightweight body, 33W fast charging support, long-lasting battery life, stereo speakers, NFC support, and an excellent camera, Motorola Moto G52 (2022) is a reasonable price compared to what Motorola is offering at the $263.
Motorola Moto G52 (2022) Summary
Motorola did the design work this time, so it doesn’t feel like a cost-effective smartphone. Moto G52 has a gorgeous 6.60-inch 90Hz pOLED display with a 90hz refresh rate and 1080 x 2400 pixel resolution.
The phone has a 50MP triple rear camera setup, and considering the price tag, the camera is excellent. The Moto G52 does not support 5G as it is powered by a Snapdragon 680 processor that does not support 5G. The processor isn’t potent, but it’s good for everyday casual gaming, not hardcore gaming.
Motorola added NFC support, which is a good option if you use it. Also, many brands don’t offer NFC on mid-range smartphones, so it’s good to have the same on a less-costed phone like Moto G52 (2022).
Even with a 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support, the phone weighs only 169g. This is because most phones with a 5000mAh battery weigh over 169g.
In conclusion, under $250, the Moto G52 is a good option and works great, but if you want a 5G smartphone, you’ll have to compromise because it doesn’t support 5G. Overall, Motorola G52 is worth buying because it offers real value.
Motorola Moto G52 (2022) Pros and Cons
Motorola Moto G52 (2022) Review
Design
Motorola has launched the Moto G52 in two elegant colours: Charcoal Gray and Porcelain White. The Charcoal Gray model of the Moto G52 was lightweight and felt in hand. This device is one of the lightest phones in its category, weighing just 169g.
Motorola made the back panel out of plastic, which looks soft and luxurious. The back panel has a matte finish but tends to glow in the sunlight. The smartphone is sleek (7.99mm) and can efficiently operate with one hand.
On the right side of the device is a volume rocker, power button, and fingerprint sensor, and on the left rim is a SIM tray. On the bottom edge of the device is a USB Type-C port, a speaker grille, and a 3.5mm headphone jack; on the top is another speaker. At the top of the rear panel is a triple camera module with three lenses and an LED flash.
The camera bump is so small that you may not even notice it. There is an ‘M‘ symbol in the centre of the back and the Motorola brand on the lower side. On the front is a 6.6-inch plastic OLED display with skinny bezels.
However, there are two downsides to this phone’s design. The back panel is so slippery that it doesn’t fit easily on any surface, which can always be a problem as there is always the risk of the device slipping off.
Another thing is that the back panel attracts dirt and stains too easily. Somehow this isn’t very pleasant. Otherwise, you can rest assured that this device is water-resistant with an IP52 rating. All in One The Moto G52 has an excellent design, but some key issues can be ignored.
Display
The Motorola G52 has a 6.60-inch pOLED display with a 90hz refresh rate and 1080 x 2400 pixel resolution. Motorola used Panther Glass for display protection and Gorilla Glass 3, while the frame and back are plastic.
The screen brightness is not very good at 500 nits, but using the phone outdoors is not a problem. It also supports Widevine L1 to watch FHD+ content on OTT platforms.
Most smartphones under $300 have a 120Hz LCD, while the Moto G52 has a pOLED 90Hz panel suitable for media consumption and gaming.
Camera
The new Moto G52 has a 50MP primary sensor + an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro sensor. The phone also has a 16MP selfie camera on the front.
The rear camera can shoot video at 1080p@30fps, while the front camera can shoot at 1080p@30fps. The primary sensor takes good images under good lighting, has detailed, has no issues with dynamic range, and the colours come out close to natural, but you can turn on HDR to get more saturated colours if you want.
For some reason, the dynamic range may be messed up when you turn on portrait mode. This is a minor issue and can be fixed with an OTA update, but this issue doesn’t pop up every time. Or miss that kind of situation.
The same goes for the front camera. The 16MP selfie camera isn’t that great, and the photos came out great, but we do not think there’s room for improvement at an affordable price tag. Also, the 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens was decent enough to take good pictures in good light, except that it took a bit of trouble in low light but took good images.
When it comes to the vast 2MP macro sensor is added for marketing or showcase. Don’t expect anything. It is essential to look good from the back.
Overall, at €249.99, Motorola G52 has a good camera; the front camera is another area that needs improvement. Still, I think you will be satisfied in terms of picture quality. However, the phone does not support OIS, it is also a cheaper smartphone, so it isn’t easy to expect OIS.
Performance
Motorola has added Snapdragon 680 processor to the Motorola G52 (2022). Again, the processor isn’t built for heavy gaming, and it’s a good processor for everyday use and casual gaming.
So, if you are a gamer, we recommend not buying this smartphone as it is not made for gaming. Because this smartphone is a decent processor and will give you good performance in your daily life, you should consider these Motorola’s Best Gaming Phones for gaming.
The Motorola Moto G52 phone has enough storage of, 128GB with a decent 4GB RAM. One of the best things about this phone is its expandable memory. You can extend to 1TB via a hybrid microSD card slot.
Audio quality
Motorola is the first to add stereo speakers to its affordable smartphone. Believe it or not, the Motorola G52 has dual speakers. Yes, it’s a dual speaker. There is also a secondary noise-cancelling microphone. Motorola G52 supports carrier aggregation.
As a low-end smartphone, Motorola added a 3.5mm audio jack. The Motorola G52 delivers excellent sound quality, and call quality is no problem.
Battery life
Motorola G52 comes with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging. The 33W charger takes about 60 to 70 minutes to charge from 0% to 100%.
Overall, the battery should last a day due to the processor, but in the end, it all depends on you and how you use your smartphone every day.
Operating system
Now let’s talk about software. The Motorola Moto G52 runs My UX 3.0-based Android 12 with its trademark skin on top. There is no adware in the UI and very little bloatware compared to other brands of smartphones.
