Motorola promises three major OS updates (up to Android 15) on the Motorola Edge 40 Ultra phone. In parallel, you will receive four years of security updates, delivered monthly.
Motorola has also guaranteed that its recently launched phones, the Moto G52 and Edge+ (2022), will have Android 13 updates and over three years of security updates.
Other launched phones, such as Moto Edge 20 series smartphones, will receive two guaranteed Android and monthly updates.
How Long Does Motorola Support Their Phones?
Motorola promises to support three major updates and four years of security patches for Motorola Edge 30 Ultra.
Motorola offers up to three years of security updates, Android OS upgrades, and bi-monthly security updates for the newly released Motorola phone, the Moto G52. For further security protection, ThinkShield for Mobile protects these new edge smartphones.
However, older phones such as the Motorola Edge, Razr, and Moto G series have only two years of security updates.
The way Motorola goes into its new G52 phone, we can expect extended support in the future.

When will Android 15 be released?
Android 15 is included in Google’s upcoming operating system. It is expected to be officially announced in February 2024 and should be ready to hit Motorola phones around fall 2024.
The release of Android 15 is just months away, and some Motorola manufacturers are still promising that certain smartphones will receive the update.
What’s new in Android 15?
The software is codenamed “Vanilla Ice Cream” and thus joins the ranks of Google’s dessert updates. For example, Android 14 is called ‘Upside Down Cake‘. Android 13 is affectionately called the ‘Tiramisu Update’
Motorola will update Android 14 to its high-end smartphones later this year.
Motorola typically provides support for its phones for two years after release. However, it has been confirmed that high-end models such as the new Moto Razr (2023) and Motorola Edge 30 series can be updated for up to 3 years. This will move from Android 12 to Android 15, expected to be released in 2024.
This year the company added some older devices to the update list, effectively doubling the set of previously confirmed smartphones for the Android 13 update. So it’s no surprise that the company is now adding more mobiles to the list of what it considers plausible.
Still, the company’s budget and high-end devices will get a taste of the upcoming software. The company could release the update much earlier than January 2024.

Motorola Android 14 Features
Accessibility improvements: Accessibility improves with each Android OS upgrade, and Android 14 is no different. Font scaling in Android 13 is limited to 130%, which increases up to 200% in Android 14.
To maintain readability, the OS also uses non-linear font scaling. Simply put, already large fonts, such as titles, will not be enlarged.
Notification Flash: Some keypad phones also have a blinking LED feature for calls, but Android doesn’t have this feature integrated natively. Although it is not confirmed yet, there are rumors that Android 14 will support notification flash.
App Cloning: Among the rumored Android 14 features is app cloning. As the name suggests, users can create two instances of the application. This is quite a useful feature for those who want to separate their work and personal profiles.
Restrict photo and video access to apps: In Android 13 and earlier, you must give apps full access to photos and videos, even if they need access to a single photo. This is a privacy issue, and thankfully Android 14 addresses it.
In Android 14, you can select specific photos and videos that you want apps to access. You can be almost certain that this app is not spying on your important photos and videos.
Other features:
Satellite connectivity: Soon, Android users will be able to take advantage of emergency SOS via satellite. Google hasn’t confirmed this, so don’t relax. So we’ll have to wait and see if that’s actually true.
Eliminate language barriers: Android 14 allows developers to take advantage of per-app language controls. It allows developers to customize their app’s language list by region.
Health Connect: The Health Connect app may come pre-installed on all Android 14 phones. You can store and connect data from various health and fitness apps. You can read more details here.

When will my phone get Android 12?
Motorola doesn’t like mobile phone updates. As a result, most receive only one platform update. This means Android 10 phones released in 2020 and early 2021 won’t come with Android 12. The only phones in 2020 that will receive this are Razr phones. Those who bought a newer phone like Motorola Moto G22 were out of luck.
